March 2017 Income Report

March is officially behind us. Since it’s a new month, it’s time for another income report. .

I publish these for a couple of reasons:

• To keep myself accountable (it gives me a good excuse to stay current on my bookkeeping!)
• For inspiration–I’ve learned so much from other entrepreneurs who openly share
• To help motivate myself to grow my business

March 2017 Income Report

In March, my freelance income was $3,265. That’s my second highest month to date.

And, it’s just about what I made as a teacher before I left the classroom to homeschool my own crew.

Except now I’m working part-time from home. On my own schedule. I love it!

So where exactly did this income come from? Here’s my breakdown:

87% – Content Editing

9 % – Virtual Assistance

4 % – Writing

Expenses

After an expensive January and February, I was relieved to see them lowered again in March. My expenses were just under $300. Here’s what I spent money on:

• Email marketing (business email and ConvertKit subscription)
• PayPal fees
• WordPress themes
• A book & a course (gotta keep learning!)

My expenses were definitely reasonable!

A Big Change

Part way through March, I received word that one of the writers for the client I’m doing the content editing for quit. They asked if I’d be available to write lessons since I’d been doing so well on the editing side. I agreed, and started writing at the end of the month.

Always do your best work because you never know when opportunities will present themselves!

Looking to April

I’d purposefully kept writing down during the first quarter, as we prepared to welcome our newest addition in February. Now that Bryson has joined us and I’ve recovered, I’m looking forward to bumping the writing portion of my business.

I know my lesson writing gig won’t last forever, so I need to really work on finding quality opportunities to replace that.

I’m also in the midst of talking with another potential VA client. So we’ll see where those talks lead.

I also just bought a new course on being a Pinterest VA (affiliate link because it’s awesome!) I’m going through this with my oldest daughter. She wants to be a graphic designer when she grows up, so I thought it’d be a good fit for her!

I’m paying her now to redo all of my pinnable images on my Tanner Learning website. She has more time for that and really enjoys it, so it’s a win-win! I’m a big fan of paying your kids when possible for jobs they do to grow the business.

Let’s see, since there was a gap for training as I learned to write the lessons instead of just doing content editing, I likely won’t see the boost in income until May. (This client pays on 30 day terms.) So there may be a slight dip my income next month. But that’s alright.

I’m so thankful for the opportunities the Lord has brought my way, and it still amazes me that I can earn a full-time income working part-time from home.
