April 2017 Freelance Income Report:

April showers are supposed to bring May flowers. If there’s any correlation between the amount of rain and the amount of flowers, we’ll be covered in flowers any day now! 😀

It was definitely a wet month. But, the rain didn’t stop me from earning over $2000 from home, while raising eight kids!

Let’s dive into the numbers a bit, and then do some reflecting.

Total Income

$2355

It breaks down like this:

Income Reflections

As you can see, the majority of this money was from content editing again this month. that was expected.

However, my total income was lower than previous months. As I shared in my March income report, I started writing lessons for this client instead of doing content editing.

Switching roles took a couple of weeks, with time for training and touching up some lessons the previous writer created at a lower rate.

Since this client pays 30 days out, that slow time definitely impacted how much money made it into my account in April. But, I’m now in the groove for writing, and excited by the income potential for May.

Writing

The writing portion of my income picked back up in May. I’d let it slow down while recovering from baby Bryson, so it was nice to increase that some more.

I anticipate my writing income will be similar in May, though I do have room in my schedule to take on another client or two. So if you’re looking for a writer, be sure to contact me!

Virtual Assistance

My virtual assistant income will be increasing, as I’ve taken on a new client! But, since I bill my VA clients at the end of the month, this increase won’t be reflected in my income statement until June.

Looking forward to the next months, I’m hoping to increase the amount of money I make from my blogs. Bringing in additional income streams is always good!

Well that wraps up my income, let’s analyze my expenses for April.

Total Expenses

$432.36

My biggest expense was for Zippy Plugins. I’ve switched my course over to a subdomain, and I’m loving it! It’s much more user-friendly, and just looks better.

Other Expenses

My other expenses for April were typical. They included:

• Images for my blogs
• A headset microphone
• Subscriptions to Gmail Suite Email, Zoom, ConvertKit, (aff. link because it’s awesome!), and Microsoft Office
• PayPal fees

I anticipate my expenses will be similar in May, except for the course plug-in.

I Love Working from Home!

Each time I write an income report, it reminds me how thankful I am for this opportunity. I love what I do, and I’m so thankful I can do it from home.

With my anticipated increased income in May, I’m looking forward to knocking another chunk off our remaining debt. We’ve gotten it down to $26,000, which is huge progress for us.

However, we unfortunately fall short of paying off enough to make this year’s deadline for missionary candidate school. So we’re buckling down to ensure we make it for next year!
