Anyways, a new month means it’s time for another freelance income report. I share my numbers openly each month as a way of being transparent with my freelancing, and to hopefully encourage other busy mamas that you really can make money working from home on a part-time basis!
If you remember, I’ve cut my hours way back in order to complete college courses this past quarter, and in anticipation of a new baby. My goal for December was to bring in between $1000-$1500. I’m excited to say I earned more than that!
Here’s a peek at the numbers.
December Income
In December, I brought in $1675.62 in income. The vast majority of that income (86%) was from freelance writing. I also had some VA income (5%) and a training payment for my new content editing position (9%).
I’m enjoying my new role, and even though it adds a few more hours to my week, I’m thankful for the income! Since that company pays out after 30 days, this will really be reflected in my January income report.
December Expenses
My expenses were fairly low and ordinary this month, coming in at only $88.77.
With that amount, I covered:
- 5 images for my blog
- ConvertKit expenses
- Zoom membership
- A course on healthy living I’m trying as an affilite
- And of course, PayPal fees
I’m pretty happy with that amount!
Comparing to Last Year
One benefit of writing these monthly income reports is being able to easily compare from month to month. Here’s a link to my December 2015 income report.
Last December I earned $1962.67 and spent $298.77. Both my income and expenses were higher. But…
I was writing articles for $16 last December. Last year, I was also putting in many more hours each week.
I now earn several times that amount per article. So I’m doing less work, in less time.
I’m certainly pleased with my progress!
Plans for January
I don’t have many changes in store for January. My new little one is due on February 2nd, though we all know due dates are more like a due month. 😀 So many of my plans involve sorting through tubs of baby clothes, packing a birth center bag, and making sure we can find the base to the infant car seat.
I’ll still be completing client work for my existing clients, doing my content editing, and writing on my own blogs. I also have an ebook in the works, and I’m super excited about it! Stay tuned for more details.
